The 22-year-old remains missing
In a case that is getting more bizarre by the moment, the bottom line is this: 22-year-old Gabby Petito remains missing and unaccounted for, after her boyfriend Brian Laundrie returned home from their cross-country trip….without Gabby. Laundrie has been named a person of interest in the case by Florida police. He has refused to talk to police. He has refused to talk to Gabby’s own family. And now….well now…. Laundrie himself has disappeared from his parent's home, where he and Gabby lived.
As a former police detective, I’ve investigated my share of missing person/homicide cases. One thing that police officers are starkly aware of is this: an intimate partner who returns home without his partner, and then lawyers up and refuses to talk to anyone, is doing that for a reason. Can it be as simple as being directed by council to not say a word? Sometimes. But in my experience, a boyfriend who allegedly “loves” his girlfriend and has her best interests at heart, is going to talk. If you have nothing to hide, you generally speak up.
