You knew it had to happen. It was just a matter of time, before missing Gabby Petito was found. Yesterday at 3pm Pacific Time, the office of the FBI in Denver announced that a body was recovered in Teton National Park, that matches the description of Gabby. While the officials have said that a positive identification has not yet been confirmed, they were confident enough to notify Gabby’s family of the find.

Sadly, I’m not surprised on this latest development. Any time an intimate partner returns home without his partner, then obtains a lawyer and refuses to speak to anyone, that’s very suspicious. I knew it was just a matter of time, before Gabby was recovered.

I thought long and hard before writing this story. Those of you who follow me, probably know that I’m a retired police officer/detective of 20 years. I completely understand that the police have a difficult job to do, especially when it comes to missing person cases. Police are human like anyone else, and can make mistakes. I rarely criticize police action, unless I feel something can be learned. As I just mentioned, police response to missing persons is difficult. The clock is ticking. Time is of the essence, before critical evidence is lost….or hidden….or destroyed. And…
