I never thought I’d be writing about the Winnebago River. But then, if you had told me a year ago that I’d be writing pieces on the abduction of Jodi Huisentruit, I would have thought you were crazy.
What’s my point? My point is this: you never really know what life has in store for you — until it happens, that is! When Jodi Huisentruit went to bed on the evening of June 26, 1995, she had no idea that she would be abducted the following morning. But she was.
Flash back to June 27, 1995. The time was approximately 4:10 AM when a still sleeping Jodi got the call from Associate Producer Amy Kuns of KIMT-TV in Mason City, Iowa. Jodi was scheduled to anchor the morning show that day, and she had overslept. After receiving the wake-up call from Amy, she got some things together and hurriedly left her apartment. And then the unspeakable happened. The thing that Jodi Huisentruit had not bargained for.
At approximately 4:30 AM, as Jodi attempted to get into her red Mazda Miata, she was overpowered by someone — Jodi was abducted. And she still has not been found 25 years later. Jodi was declared legally dead in…
